Nearly 40,000 visitors enjoyed a spectacular day of flying at RNAS Yeovilton on Saturday 8th July 2018. One of the highlights of the day was the display with Navy Wings’ very own Sea Fury T20 who for the first time since Korea met the MiG 15 in the skies. Piloted by Lt Cdr Chris Gotke RN the Sea Fury T20 re-enacted the chase with the MiG 15 during the Korean War where the piston engined Sea Fury T20 famously shot down the MiG Jet.
Veteran Sea Fury pilot Brian ‘Schmoo’ Ellis watched the display and added to the Fleet Air Arm aviation story with interviews about his daring flying and a dog fight against the odds.
Lt Cdr Chris Gotke RN also took the helm of the only flying Fairey Swordfish in the world and treated Air Day visitors to a truly wonderful display from this Nationally important icon.
